SOLD OUT! ;-)

We are the Amsterdam Ruby User Group. We exist to promote all aspects of Ruby within the area of Amsterdam.

Our aim is to make Amsterdam a centre of excellence for Ruby development.

We meet on the last Monday of every month, and welcome anybody with an interest in the language Ruby, or even the framework Rails. We particularly welcome newcomers to join our friendly local community to share, teach and generate new Ruby knowledge.

As always, this event is free to attend and the beer will be cold!!

Confirmed presenters:

Ola Bini, o.a. core developer of JRuby, is coming all the way from Sweden to give a presentation about a brand new dynamic programming language he developed that runs on the JVM. It's called Ioke, and it's inspired by languages like Ruby, Smalltalk, Lisp and IO. He likes to do live coding during his presentations, just how amsterdam.rb likes it ! ;-) More info about Ola & Ioke http://olabini.com/

Phusion's Ninh Bui & Hongli Lai. The incredible smart & famous boys of Phusion will give a presentation about design by contract using ruby.  http://www.phusion.nl/

Martijn van Excel, an active member of the OpenStreetMap.org will be giving a presentation as well. This is going

to be a really interesting presentation as he will talk about the technology used by OpenStreetMap which is very similar to the Google Maps setup. They use a lot of Ruby (on Rails) for that. He'll also talk about why OpenStreetMap is such a kick-ass project and why you, as a developer, should care. http://www.openstreetmap.nl/

Jeroen van Dijk created an advanced scaffold generator that allows you to create a rails app from an UML model. Smells like some live coding! ;-)

Axel Roest, an experienced Cocoa developer will give a talk about the RubyCocoa framework.  http://www.axel.nu/
